ʻŌlelo Noʻeau are traditional Hawaiian proverbs that convey cultural wisdom, values, and observations about life and nature.
KMR ALAKA'I
ʻUaʻu (Hawaiian Petrel) is a nocturnal seabird that nests in high mountain burrows and spends most of its life at sea. It feeds on squid and fish and uses precise navigation to return to nesting sites. Though rarely seen, it is vital for understanding ocean health. Populations have declined from predators and habitat loss, but conservation efforts aim to protect them (Pacific Rim Conservation, DLNR, National Park Service).
